Ladies Only Wilderness Adventure

Ladies Seeking Adventure

Adventuresome ladies of any age, enjoy an unforgettable outdoor experience in the Wyoming Wind River Wilderness; the forgotten wilderness, comprising over 400,000 acres of pristine forest, alpine meadows, grandiose snow capped mountain peaks and over 1,300 alpine lakes.

Your base camp, a lovely, well appointed bed and breakfast (subject to availability), located in the quaint community of Pinedale, which rests at the foot of the Wind River Mountains and the Bridger Wilderness area. Enjoy hiking, horseback riding, fly and spin fishing in a pristine wilderness environment. You will walk and ride the trails that early Native Americans and fur trappers traveled hundreds of years ago. As part of this experience, you will visit many historic sights that will bring to life the beautiful landscapes that you visit daily.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Pinedale and check into Chambers House Bed & Breakfast

Day 2: Fly and spin fishing exercise

You will learn casting techniques and fishing tactics from a certified fly-casting instructor. Much of the instruction is conducted on lakes and streams in the Pinedale area. Emphasis is placed on the practical exercise where you will fish for the wiley rainbow, brook, brown and native cutthroat trout. You are welcome to bring your own equipment.

Day 3: Horseback trail ride

Learn the basics of handling a gentle saddle horse while you move along a trail, which winds through beautiful forests in the foothills of the Wind River Mountains. There will be many opportunities for photographing scenery and wildlife and you will be able to employ the fishing skills you learned the previous day. After a luscious lunch prepared over an open campfire you can relax in the fresh mountain air, enjoy a leisure hike along one of the high alpine lakes or cast a fly to a hungry trout. A short horseback ride back to the trailhead will give you another opportunity to view nature at its best and then it is back to the Chambers House for a restful evening.

Day 4: Historic tour

You will take an auto tour of sights along the famous Oregon Trail. This will also include a visit to the historic locations in and around South Pass City. This region holds many historic treasures, since it was the main route traveled during the early east to west migration and was also noted for early gold mining activities. This trip will offer many photo opportunities and will enable you to feel the experience of the early pioneers as they crossed this great expanse of land. You may also elect to tour the Mountain Man Museum in Pinedale where you will learn the details of the brief, but colorful fur trading industry which took place in the region in the mid-eighteen hundreds. The individuals that participated in the fur trade activities helped open the roads for the many emigrants that traveled through Wyoming to their destinations in California, Utah and Oregon. Then back to the Chambers House base camp for the final evening.
